Outdoor Living Rooms - Yes Or No

Rooftop living room at a restaurant in Palermo Hollywood, Buenos Aires

I had a little rant about outdoor living rooms.
I guess they're okay.
But if you think about it, how much time do we really spend outdoors, relaxing, eating, lounging?
Holiday barbeques add up to about 3 or 4 in a season.
Sunning on the chaise lounge is out of the question.
Who takes time to read a book in a chair on the patio?
Some people who live in the right climate might dine alfresco more often, from taking their morning coffee to having dinner outside.
But once it gets really hot, or buggy, we head indoors.
Often the patio furniture becomes purely decorative, taking up visual space on the wood deck or the concrete slab.
If there are any smokers left in the world, they may go outside to smoke, keeping inside the house smoke free. Smokers use patio furniture regularly, rain or shine, hot or cold.
I guess I was cranky about the style of the "new" outdoor living room furniture, so matchy, matchy, and so weird to drag an entire perfectly good indoor living/family room lifestyle outdoors. I think if you go outdoors, you might want to do something else besides sit down.
