I am so impressed how Ms. Quinn & Mr.Bradley painstakingly restored GG's, down to pieces of furniture. What a huge labor of love. The whole story is quite compelling & magical. How about that birdcage with a single bulb over Little Edie's bed? There again, eerily beautiful..if that is even an appropriate phrase?! Have a fun wkend (:

I was enjoying your article on Yves and Paris - and then I got to East Hampton. Wow.
Your descriptions of Grey Gardens, clear affection for the Edies and your memories of starting out in New York and working in East Hampton moved me, literally, to tears. Not just any writer could pull off design history, social commentary and a vivid look back at a unique, carefree time of life so seamlessly. You are a marvel. Thank you! Edie

So, moving on. I realize the piano incident could have been a tragedy, but the way Ms. Quinn describes it has planted a hysterical scene in my mind. Like something out of a cartoon!
Ooooh please tell me when I will be able to see this on dvd... I do not have HBO... you know possitively everything... do you know this too? Or if it can be watched online? BTW I heard that you met Renae Moore today... how FUN... I would love to meet both of you in person... must find a way to N.O.!!! ENJOY your weekend! Fifi
What a nut I am. I commented on the photo. Liked the room them went to the slide show. I had no idea it was Bid Edie's room. I thought it was a cool, yet, shabby room with a lawn chair and kimono accent. Loved the lighting. I really am attached to those women. Just love them and love their style.
The HBO film, starring Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lang is certainly a perfect tribute to both the original documentary and these two wonderful woman. I was told right after filming of the HBO film wrapped up in the fall of 2007, that I would be blown away at the last scene, where Edie sings Tea For Two at Reno Sweeny, and I was ! I had supplied the film company with the only recording in existence of Edie singing the tune, only this wasn't from her actual performance at the club, but rather her singing it just for me at one of my many visits to Grey Gardens, more than 30 years ago. Drew sang it exactly, phrase for phrase as I have it on tape. Edie and I actually met that night at Reno Sweeny, and my relationship with Grey Gardens has now spanned over 3 decades.
