Val I tremendously enjoyed Vance's video. Yours & Alberto's documentary was very poignant. My husband & I were just talking about the people of N.O. last evening & how there had to have been, & still are, so many lost souls. People that for most didn't matter. Still today after 5 years so tragic that our own country was so inept at helping their own. After experiencing hurricane Ike here in Houston, cannot imagine going through what you all did when the Levey's gave way. Thank you for sharing your video with us. The music, the sights truly moving.
My heart goes out to all those who were so deeply effected and lives were changed forever. Thank god the people of NOLA have great spirit. Something for us all to learn from. xx oo
Beautifully done, Vamp. Thank you for your comment on my blog as well. I must admit....got a little misty when I read it. Vive la Nouvelle-Orleans! Thank God we have people like you and A living here.
I hold New Orleans and the Gulf coast close to my heart; I was a Red Cross volunteer in Algiers a month after Katrina struck. I just sent an email to many friends of mine, asking to keep all of you in their prayers and thoughts. I'll send you a copy.
I spent most of the weekend either watching Katrina specials or reading stories online. I read the Times-Picayune from time to time, just to catch up. I'm appalled at some things, encouraged by others. That's always the way, isn't it?
I love your blog! I'm not very savvy about decorating, but I've taken some tips from you and I plan to put them in place as soon as I finish my spring cleaning (yes, I'm late!). Going thru stuff room by room; right now, it's a heap of a mess (my dogs love it, though -- they have fun things to plow through. Go figure!)
My best to you! You are an inspiration, and when I get to New Orleans again, I'll stop by Perch and say 'hello' in person.
Many thanks for your great style and all your wonderful tips (and links .. I went to Jane Fonda's site after you suggested it, and yes! it's a great read; quite contagious!)
What an inspirational start to the week. I feel so blessed to have so many things in my life. Thanks for reminding me that it's time to be selfless and think of others. xoxo Lila Ferraro
this might seem strange to you but since i don't keep a television, i've never before seen anything like this, and, difficult as i felt it was, i am better for seeing it, and seeing it so well presented.
