ReplyDeleteI prefer to keep orchids in my home. I do keep some plants in the living room because I had a FS master come to my house. He told me it was my money corner and what kind of plant I needed. It worked. So...if one was good, two might be better. I put a second one right next to the original. So far, so good! Other than that, it's flowers!

I like seeing plants in a home if they're well taken care of and well thought out as part of the design process. If they're covered in shabby, yellow, drooping leaves or have a foil cover on them - blech! I love to see good-looking plants as part of a vignette.
ReplyDeleteI currently have orchids in my bedroom and living room. I'd like a large plant for my library, but I'm not sure what yet. I like potted paperwhites at Christmas and hyacinths in the spring.
When I was a teenager...I had lots of them in my bedroom. It's was the late 70's and I was all about them. But now...I have a hard time caring for them inside. I'm always so afraid I'm going to spill water everywhere because I usually do. I do have a jade plant that is surviving that was sent to me by a blog reader from Hollywood and he has a place of honor cause he's a celebrity! ha! I adore big ferns outside and I take very good care of them there because I can liberally spray water everywhere without the fear of ruining something but I just moved several of them inside because I didn't want them to freeze and I was immediately irritated that they are in the way. Plus they'll loose leaves and make a big mess. My plan is to cut them back and put them in the garage but this is my plan every year and it never happens. I usually give up and throw them out. Start over with new ferns next year. Maybe this year will be the year I get them in the garage. I do like the look of a few houseplants in a room and I do like terrariums. Although I don't have one....I keep meaning to make one but haven't. There....that's more than you wanted to know....
ReplyDeleteI enjoy having plants in the house, although I tend to be a forgetful gardener. The only plants my cats don't nibble on are orchids and cacti. So, that's what I keep. As a bonus, they are low maintenance under the right conditions. I suppose terrariums are another option that would keep plants safe from my cats.
ReplyDeleteI love them in a home when they are a well planned part of the decor. I have quite a few and prefer the low maintenance type.
ReplyDeleteI have acquired a few orchids of late, and I'm enjoying them, not much to do with them. But beyond that, my cat eats everything and pukes. So needless to say I don't decorate with live plants. Well at least not till the cat is no longer part of the family, and I suspect by then, I'll be onto other things.

I brought in my two Gardenia topiaries and I think they are in shock.. I love plants indoors but I am not the best and keeping them alive!!
ReplyDeleteHouseplants can add to a room design by adding color and structure. The fiddle leaf seems to be the rage currently while singular and clustered orchids have been used for years.To me you can never have too many plants or pillows in a space.
