Decorating With Chanel And Hermes - Sources For My Bedroom In Rue Magazine

Love these photos via La Dolce Vita. What girly-girl doesn't love Chanel and Hermes?

Using Chanel in your decor - photo via La Dolce Vita- go visit to see the whole fab space

Anne Harwell of Annechovie does the best prints of a Chanel perfume bottle that are so cute and affordable.

So cute! Ger it for your house! Anne Harwell at Etsy

And what girl doesn't want an Hermes purse?!!!!

Love how the purses are displayed as decor - photo via La Dolce Vita

Anne also does a fab print of a Kelly bag, and it comes with your choice of background color. I love them all, but I love the one with the Hermes orange background the best!

You can affor4ed this Kelly bag!!! Anne Harwell at Etsy

I got four of them and used them in my revamped bedroom. I framed them in black with white mats (frames from a big box store) to play back to the black trim on the lamps, and the black trim on the accent wall.

I upholstered it in green linen (from fabric.com - they are out of what I use, but I gave you the link for something similar). I purposefully chose black trim on the hotel bedding (from an eBay store), with the oversize black monograms in a font called Tango (done by Uptown Embroidery).

I used extra green linen to make a bed skirt. The upholstered  headboard and  slip covered bench are done in Schumacher Nanjing in Jade Green. The headboard is very affordable from Country Door. I had the double piping removed by the Leonels the upholsterer, The chevron Missoni style rugs come from a big box store, and I put two together to make a larger rug,

The lamps are vintage that I painted to look like alabaster, and the oversize shades came from Lowes.
The nightstands were a close out that I got about six years ago, and have been painted a couple of time.
The color is Benjamin Moore Kelly Green.

The flower ball chandelier is discontinued, but it came from perch. and I am sure they could find you something similar.

It takes a village to make a pretty room, and I thank Anne Harwell and Mitchell Settoon for their help, and rue magazine for including me in the current issue May/June 2012 issue.

Next time I will share some sources in my living room.

Black and White Chanel Interiors

The black and white rooms created by Coco Chanel in the 1920's are amazing. They are a treat for all you lovers of black and white decor.

The entry hall of Chanel's country home - white walls black trim

Actually these are images from the 2010 film, Coco & Igor,  a soft core biopic. It was on cable last week, so I watched it, and there were some great lines: Mrs. Stravinsky (upon seeing Coco's home) “You don’t like color, Mademoiselle Chanel?” To which Coco dryly responds, “As long as it’s black.”

Coco & Igor met (and ultimately bed) right after Coco's lover of nine years Boy Capel died in a tragic car crash. Apparently Chanel was kept by many rich men in her life. However, Boy Capel was, Chanel’s self proclaimed  “love of her life.”  After Capel's death, Chanel’s collections featured what became her signature black. Other designers of the time commented that she was making everyone mourn for her lost love by using black as a main color in her collections. Whatever the reason, Chanel broke barriers and gave new life to the color black.

So here's a round up of all the images I could find from the movie. There are some good ideas to inspire anyone wanting to try out a black and white decor scheme.

The movie version of Chanel's country house - LOVE the  pair giant spiral topiary

You don’t like color, Mademoiselle Chanel?  Let me see if I have some red Russian rugs to throw around this dump.

Igor says this place is crazier than a set of piano keys - LOVE the black Venetian mirror

Step into my music room and tickle my ivories - Black drapes and hand painted walls are spiffy

Count the patterns - Fabulous rug, border under window, wall painting, and black trim

Let me see if you're wearing black under there

Don't be sad Igor, I'll 'sew you some black under pants - Check out the wall details

All that under pants sewing made me hungry - One of the lovely black and white dresses in the movie

So your wife dares to wear red in my house! Even though she's dying and the two of you and your four kids are living in my house too, I'll still seduce you and teach her a lesson in hospitality she won't soon forget! And everybody keep puffing those cigarettes next to the wife with consumption!

Please show me your bathroom renovation - I hear you got some good ideas from blogs - Mais oui! M.C, Escher has a blog.

Here's the bathroom - Whatever you do don't touch the parrot - it's still pissed that I dyed it black

Want  me to wash you?

Time to go to work in my black and white world

How big can my ash get?

Everybody must wear black and white, and maybe a little beige - That goes for you too humble shop girl!

All dressed up with nowhere to go - Oh Iggy where are you???

Lay Iggy lay, Lay across my big brass bed - LOVE the recurring Greek key motif

Now that's what I'm talking about! The black and white bedding is stunning!

Bitch stole my piano man  - The mix of pattern is extraordinary

Shit! I think I can hear them in the garden shed! LOVE the symmetry of the topiary

Shh...The old ball and chain  has big ears

Coco & Igor design inspiration or soft core biopic  - You decide

The real Igor -who knew he was so hot

The real Coco Chanel - who knew she was such a Vamp!

So what do you think of black and white decor? Do you think it's easy to do because there are only two colors to work with? Do you think it imbues a space with instant sophistication and high design?

Does Anyone Want A Chanel Handbag?

We have basic cable and don't get Lifetime. There was quite alot of blog buzz about this biopic, which aired last week. I went to the Lifetime web site to see if I could watch it there, but they don't do that. Has anyone seen it? Did anyone tape it? Was it any good? The trailer looked a little hokey. While I was at the Lifetime web site, I entered this contest HERE
Once upon a time I owned a Chanel handbag and a Chanel jacket, I gave the bag to my sister, and sold the jacket on eBay so I could buy our dog Cholo. I'm not really into this purse, and prefer the brown one I found on line (they both look like knockoffs to me ha ha). If I win, maybe I'll sell it, and get a little sister for Cholo (and call her CC).
But in the meantime, I thought I'd post some photos of Coco's Rue Cambon apartment. I know many of you have seen these and posted them too, but I needed a consolation prize for having cheap cable service. So let's take a little tour starting at the entrance...
...this is the anteroom
...the family room (ha ha)
...that magnificent chandelier
...the living room, with those famous screens (like I wanted for behind my couch ha ha)
...a gold wheat sheaf table (I have one that I'm selling right now)
...another view of the living room
...the dining room
...this has also been identified as the dining room, but I don't know
...a lovely vignette
You can go HERE to see a video tour of her apartment, and some little film about making a commercial there.

How was the set design for the Lifetime movie? Did anything like this appear?
