I recently found a board on Pinterest called
"beautiful old women with big glasses". Of course I can relate to it. I did a post called
Big Girl Glasses when I got my first pair of over size frames in 2011.

Cindy Waters at The Optical Shoppe in Baton Rouge fitted me with my first pair of big glasses |
I wore that first pair to death, I got it from Cindy Waters who owns
The Optical Shoppe in Baton Rouge. She fitted me with a pair of Oliver Peoples Ballerina sunglasses. She popped out the sunglasses lenses and I had my prescription put in.
So when I finally decided to get a new pair of glasses, I went back to
The Optical Shoppe where Cindy had a pair of Tom Ford glasses waiting for me to try on. They were even bigger and bolder, and of course I loved them at once.

Young girls look good in big glasses too |
Though I am not as old as Iris Apfel, the poster child for big glasses, I feel these big glasses that "beautiful old women" favor make you look youthful.

People always bring me pictures of Iris Apfel, who I have long admired |
From About.com:
"Just because you're a Woman of a Certain Age who wears glasses, you are
not doomed to bifocals, glasses hung from chains around the neck and the
pastel frames you bought for $40 back in 1988. Pick the right
eyeglasses and frames and you could actually shave years off your look.
Pick the wrong ones (or stick with the dated look you've adopted) and
you can add years to your look."
Here are some tips:
- Stick to black or tortoise - black frames are youthful
- Don't wear a lot of other accessories
- Red lipstick is a must to balance the visual

The great thing about The Optical Shoppe is that Cindy loves fashion and gets all the latest frames. The selection is amazing. And she runs some pretty great sales on a regular basis that fashion forward people can take advantage of.

Great selection of fashion forward glasses at The Optical Shoppe in Baton Rouge |
Her staff are expert fitters (and so nice). My glasses are bifocal, and they got it
right on the first try. If you don't live in Baton Rouge, it is
definitely worth the trip. And if you can't get to Baton Rouge, Cindy
will ship frames to you for your local eye wear shop to fit lenses in.
You can keep up with those terrific sales on The Optical Shoppe Facebook page.
