I Heart The Optical Shoppe

I recently found a board on Pinterest called "beautiful old women with big glasses". Of course I can relate to it. I did a post called Big Girl Glasses when I got my first pair of over size frames in 2011.

I wore that first pair to death, I got it from Cindy Waters who owns The Optical Shoppe in Baton Rouge. She fitted me with a pair of Oliver Peoples Ballerina sunglasses. She popped out the sunglasses lenses and I had my prescription put in.

So when I finally decided to get a new pair of glasses, I went back to The Optical Shoppe where Cindy had a pair of Tom Ford glasses waiting for me to try on. They were even bigger and bolder, and of course I loved them at once.

Young girls look good in big glasses too

Though I am not as old as Iris Apfel, the poster child for big glasses, I feel these big glasses that "beautiful old women" favor make you look youthful.

• Stick to black or tortoise - black frames are youthful
• Don't wear a lot of other accessories
• Red lipstick is a must to balance the visual

Her staff are expert fitters (and so nice). My glasses are bifocal, and they got it right on the first try. If you don't live in Baton Rouge, it is definitely worth the trip.
