Do You Have More Than One Blog?

So many things to look at and write about, so little time...
Do you have more than one blog? Is your output so productive that it cannot be contained or defined by just one blog?

Last year I took these photos on the street on Mardi Gras. I was struck by the number of people not in costume, but dressed up in their Sunday best, and hitting the streets in style.

And then I just started seeing people in everyday clothes made festive by a hank of beads.

I like the street fashion blogs NY Run Fashion and The Satorialist.

And I adore the master Bill Cunningham who has been photographing On The Street for The New York Times for over 30 years or so. On The Street is definitely the inspiration for the street fashion blogs.

Every city has unique street fashionistas. New Orelans is no exception. There are alot of stylish individuals on the street everyday.

I would love to roam the streets and snap pictures of them and post them. I wonder how you get photos, without bothering someone or making them uptight, and how they feel getting their pictures posted (if they ever even find out). Do you hang out in the same spot everyday, becoming a part of the scenery? Do you roam the city looking for fashion?

Photos of me on the New York streets or at a New York party or club taken by Bill Cunningham and Allen Tannebaum were done without my being aware that a photo was being taken.
Somebody would call me at tell me, I think I saw you in the paper...

Anyway, with the warm weather coming, I'm thinking about starting another blog.

  1. I love street fashion blogs. Minneapolis has one called the Minneapoline. It is on my blog list. Yours would be too if you start it.

  2. It is always fun to watch and observe fashion...especially those who take a few risks and put themselves out there. But I am not a fashion junky, don't think I've ever read a Vogue cover to cover. I tend to browse and then move on. But I do occasionally stop on one of the fashion blogs. I say if you have time and enjoy it, why not!

  3. I think almost everybody is flattered when someone else likes their style. I say go for it. I personally like the satorialist approach where the pics are posed and we sometimes get to know a little about the person or outfit---that way I get to see all the details, which can be hard in a candid pic. happy mardi gras

  5. I can barely handle one ( my mind is boring and I can't think). You do a fabulous job of entertaining and educating...I like how your mind works.

  6. I have two blogs. One is on Tribes.net and is an interactive format, I put it out there, others comment on it, you can save images into your profile to peruse, you have space for extended write ups of you/your self-expression, and you have friends there. Tribes is cool cause you join tribes of interest to you. I have participated in art exchanges and craft trades and other fun mailings. More of a sense of community there. Very cool.

I also blog here: http://bemorefancy.blogspot.com/ This blog seems to be just putting it out there, one sided.

  7. Hi V. Hart!
I have been reading your blog for a long time, but this is the first time I am commenting. I think it would be a great idea to have
NOLA Street Style By the Visual Vamp.

  8. I occasionally consider starting a private companion blog, you know, one where I can write the things I don't want to write on my regular blog for fear that somebody I know will read it. BUT...alas...I just don't have the time.

  9. I start new blogs all the time. Then I forget the password and am unable to update.

  12. You know the best thing about humans? We have so many facets to our personalities, so many nuances of our identities, that we can hardly be contained by one expression of our "selves", a sole version of "us"...or even one blog! Why limit our persona to some narrow field? Can't we be glam yet prim? professional yet inappropriate? Scarred while perfect? Fat yet thin? Virgins and whores? Dog lovers AND cat devotees? Deeply profound or banal? Happy AND sad? Dancers AND wallflowers? divine yet way less so? good hair and bad hair? Catholic yet Buddhist? Deep Voo Doo and in deep do-do? Mystic while boring dull? No, we are NOT just "one blog". We are on fire! U go, Valorie! Start another blog, or hundreds, to EXPRESS all the wondrous dimensions of YOU...thus giving me (and all of us) the courage to be ourselves! Love you and all of "yous"!

  20. Just had to comment again, 3 in one day? I have been cooped up from the snow...
Last month I saw Bill Cunnighan standing outside Barneys NY, just had to run up and shake his hand! He couldn't be more charming in person, and somewhat shy, and extremely modest. Now I love his work even more!
