Would You Use A Colored Sofa?

Color sofas and couches have made a huge comeback in the past few years. What color is your couch?

Here are a few familiar images to remind you how great colored couches are.

  1. I just bought a camel color sofa for my family room and was lucky enough to score a CL velvet tuxedo sofa with nail head trim on a deep dark hunter green. Super excited about the green one!

  2. I love coloured sofas! My next sofa will be a coloured one, but a subtle, greyish colour like sage or greyish blue, not a brightly coloured one.

  4. These are wonderful colour combinations. Love the fuchsia and lavender combination. My current sofa is burnt orange, teamed up with deep teal and olive green.

  6. I love a colored sofa. I only wish I had way more rooms in my house to play with experimenting!! Navy is a neutral anyways, right?

  7. In all but two pictures, the brightly colored sofas are shown in rooms with a lot of saturated color. While I would not go out and buy an orange sofa, it is spectacular against the rich green walls. Richly colored sofas definitely look better in "moody" rooms.

  10. Oh, that Miles! Isn't he positively genius?! I would love a peacock blue or moss green velvet sofa. Not going to happen anytime soon, but a girl can dream, right?

  11. The reason I have not purchased a new sofa for the upstairs den is because my husband wants a sofa that is not white or cream, but I can't commit to it. I want a white or cream sofa up there, so I can change the color of the room with pillows and such (although I doubt I would ever do that once everything is in place).

Reading Joni's post on the Osbourne house - and seeing the big light blue sectional that is the family room - was interesting to see. I know it can work. The pictures you have in this post show it can work. I think it needs to be pulled together with a good eye and someone who is willing to look for the perfect fabric.

  12. I love this daybed set. It does seem a bit expensive for what you get - if Amazon produced something similar in its Strathmore Griffen line, with matching colors, and sold it for $599, they would FLY off the shelves! Are you listening Amazon?

I'm also a big fan of Carnival's Serenity Area on its newer ships, and yes, as the other reviewer said these chairs remind me VERY MUCH of what you find on the ships, and also impart that great, relaxing feeling. I got two of these, first was espresso with orange cushions and 2nd was mocha cushions. For the life of me, I couldn't remember the cushion color on Serenity deck. Curious? Before you go to look it up, I'll tell you - they are turquoise! I had never really considered that as a color for the Taiji but now looking at it, it really is an awesome color. Especially in the location I have it, which is overlooking a wonderful waterfront vista behind my home.

Anyway, was apprehensive to spend $900-1000 on this item. Thought I got lucky finding one for significantly less through Warehouse Deals, so I jumped on it. Was very excited to get it, then imagine my shock when opened the well-worn box to find NO cushions or pillows whatsoever in the box! Nothing on top, nothing underneath, just 2 resin wicker frames. I immediately realized what happened, and it's a pretty grim scenario: The original purchaser of the new item, likely took the orange cushions out of this box, taped it up, then on Amazon's dime returned it for some reason (we don't like the colors, etc).

This is no different from walking into a retail store and stealing the cushion/pillow set right off the item! It is a really crappy thing to do b/c not only does it cost Amazon a TON in 2-way shipping costs, but add to that the 3rd shipping cost of my return and the fact that they CANNOT resell it as is. I even called LexMod to see if I could buy a cushion/pillow set separately, and of course they get the whole set as a package from the factory in China so they don't sell cushions separately. Probably, somebody just didn't like the color of cushions they chose and could not return it, or maybe they spilled something on it. Regardless it's a really crappy thing to do and I hope Karma visits itself on them some time in the future.

I needed this item for house staging, and through this ordeal lost over 10 days in shipping this one back and getting a replacement.

So in sum - a fantastic set, just like Serenity deck. But, Amazon should make a similar one matching their existing Strathmore Griffen line and sell it cheaper - $599 is a great price point. And buyer beware for unscrupulous previous owners if you purchase this used!!!!
